The characters seem so real; and th...Amazing story. The characters seem so real; and the Congo is described in such detail. I believe that some writers write themselves into a character, and if that is so for Kingsolver's 'P.B.', then she is 'Adah'. Leah is such a strong person, and so level-headed. But as she grows into adulthood, I feel that she becomes obsessed-is that pathological or just passion? For eg., to adopt another country as one's own and to hate one's motherland to such an extent. I am a bit confused by the last chapter; is Ruth May the snake. Or is she the large woman all the Price ladies encounter.
